( Interview techniques ) treatment.

I plan for my Documentary to be in the typical style where the Subject(s) will be seated in their regular environment and interviewed.

Equipment

2 cameras will be used for the interviews in order to capture both the interviewer and interviewee during the course of the video with images and videos in post of the subjects. Lighting will be all natural as the room is too small to bring any lighting or additional equipment, so the equipment used will be limited to 2 Camera’s, 2 Tripods and 2 Microphones.

Post

The images in my Documentary are graphic and include post-surgery photographs, although this is needed to express how badly my subject needed treatment.
I also hope to add footage from my subjects Make-A-Wish, which he will be going on in the next few weeks. I will not add any music in order for the interviews to be as natural as possible because I feel that Music will ruin the mood of the whole documentary. In the Home schooling side, I will hopefully add footage of Bev teaching Ceinen on Camera and potentially showing his improvement over the years since he was taken out of school.

Camera switches Perspective when asking/answering a question.

Initial plan of action

The questions I ask will be basic, such as “How long have you been home schooling for” however, I expect the subject to elaborate and go in to more detail on the subject and potentially talk about the influences behind it. Precautions may need to be in effect when Interviewing Ceinen because he struggles to answer questions on the spot, therefore he may need to time to think of an answer and write it down so that he can read it on Camera.

The home schooling side of the documentary will have interviews from both the teacher and the student about how Home schooling has been implemented in to their lives and why they resorted to home schooling instead of going to a regular school. The student (Ceinen) has Tourette’s and autism so I would like to ask him how these shape his life and how he has had to live with that (Only if he is comfortable with answering questions)

I would also like to potentially get an interview with the whole family together which may be difficult because the dad works 12 hour shifts and nights and Bailey attends College.
If this is impossible to do, interviews from the initial 3 subjects will suffice.

The Documentary will be cut in to 2 separate parts for each subject, and some of the interviews will be cut in order to meet the 3 minute demand. I will keep the most important/interesting questions and answers in the final product.

Date and Time

The day I will film will be on Friday 25th of January and will last approximately 2 hours unless the family suddenly has plans, the location of the shoot will be at their home on St Johns Close.

The date of filming has been pushed back multiple times from December 3rd because Bailey and his family went to London for bailey to have surgery, to January 10th, to January 25th. January 25TH should be the last time it gets pushed back.
