Task 2- Understanding the structure and job roles in a media sector

Structure of media sector:
There are multiple media sectors including film, TV, Animation, Games, Advertising and more, each sector is compiled of many different elements, for example the film sector comprises of the individual jobs like Cinematography, production, pre-production, distribution etc.
Each sector is an important part of bringing a particular media project together as each job keeps the ball rolling and if someone starts to not work up to par then it could throw a spanner in the works and slow down or stop production completely.
advertising is a role that expands to every media sector in order to gain attraction towards a production although each sector's advertising strategies can vary, some may advertise films through trailers on TV and online because these are where most people will see them, advertising also expands to the physical world too as posters are placed on bus stops and billboards are made to advertise.

Public service media (PSM) is broadcasting financed and controlled by the public, they are designed to inform, entertain and educate viewers. The BBC is a PSM which is funded by the TV license which is to be paid by law, anyone who does not pay can be prosecuted and fined. The PSM is intended to be transparent and a democratic system for the benefits of the public.

An important part of the media sector is ethical issues which must refers to basic rules which MUST be followed such as copyright laws, employment legislation, intellectual properties to name a few.
Copyright is in place to protect an original Idea or property from being stolen/Plagiarized by another person/party.

An executive producer is the start of a long and vesting chain of people who control what happens on a project, the executive producer oversees the production for the financers and distributors, they are responsible for ensuring the project is completed on schedule and in budget. They need go negotiation skills in order to come to an agreement on budgets, deadlines among other things.

The Producer is responsible for hiring the Director and any other crew needed on a project, they oversee production closely to ensure nothing is going wrong. They also provide support for stressed cast and crew. A producer has hands-on a lot of the production including the script, the directing and even the editing. The producer will arrange location manager(s) and a casting director in order to find filming locations as well as cast for the production, a production manager will also be hired to make sure that the budget is spent properly, keeping an eye on any ethical issues and reporting back to the producer any progress/issues that arise during the production.
The director will be hired by the Producer and will be in charge on-set of the cast and crew, the role of the director is to bring the script to life through any means necessary.

Each role in the media industry is different and is important in their own unique way, they all contribute to the finished product and if 1 of the roles were to be removed, the finished product would end up looking bad.
