Unit 6: Media campaign evaluation
Our anti-bullying campaign was posted through our Facebook and twitter accounts and did reach a few people on Facebook but Twitter received no likes, follows or even tweets . However I believe it didn't gain any traction mostly because we didn't advertise enough or well enough to make people see that the campaign was serious. The cohesion between the twitter and Facebook accounts was a positive factor however because we had the same posts on each and links to the opposite pages.
From handing out questionnaires and showing our social action videos to an audience, we found that our videos help get the point across and show how bad bullying can be to people however we also found that the audience felt like we could and should have committed more of our attention towards the more brutal side of bullying as it "Would have had a bigger impact"
We asked our audience various questions on the questionnaire and they all said near enough the same thing, "Show the more brutal side", "Go in to more detail", "Showing the obvious side". These comments are expected however we will take the constructive criticism in to account and improve for the future!
Another positive that was given from the audience was our use of statistics as it pushes the message forward better and allows the audience to potentially learn something new.
Although our campaign didn't gain the attention we wanted, I'm still proud of our efforts because we acknowledged a problem in the world and even though it was only a few people that saw it, it's better than no one seeing it at all.
We advertised helplines that could also potentially help in the fight against bullying however it seems that none of the audience took notice of this as an important detail which is a shame because I believe that this shows that helplines are nothing important to some people but in reality, they can be a big difference in somebody's life.
The videos for our campaign were a last second ditch effort to salvage any content we had because we were unable to do our initial idea due to casting issues, however I'm still happy with the end product even if it didn't get the exposure we initially hoped for. I'm just happy somebody other than our group saw it.
The web pages are still up so they could still somehow be noticed in the future, if this happens, we'll be ready.
