Pre Oscars Controversy research (Multicam) Unit 35

Kevin Hart tweeted homophobic things in 2011 which has come back to bite him now as he has had to step down from hosting the Oscars this year because of it. The Oscars therefore has no host this year for the first time in 30 years.

Bryan singer, director of X-men and bohemian rhapsody has been accused of sexual abuse to under age boys, these allegations have been around for years but have just now started gaining traction again after the success of bohemian Rhapsody, Bryan Singers BAFTA nomination was revoked after the allegations began to surface again.

The movie "Detainment" is also under flak as it received an Oscar nomination, the film was made without the real life victims parents consent and criticises that they have to relive it all over again, they also stated that it's disgusting that they had a child actor act out their sons final moments.

Over the past few years, the viewing figures for the Oscars have been on a consistent downward spiral and the constant mistakes that keep happening are not helping it.
2014- 43.7 million views
2015- 36.6 million views
2016- 34.3 million views
2017- 32.9 million views.
If the theme continues, I predict this years Oscars will have around 30.4 million viewers.

Cinematography, Editing, Live Action Short and Makeup and Hairstyling are being given out during commercial breaks, detainment is nominated for best live action short film. Is this their attempt to cover it up?
