Task 2- Understanding the structure and job roles in a media sector

Image
Structure of media sector: There are multiple media sectors including film, TV, Animation, Games, Advertising and more, each sector is compiled of many different elements, for example the film sector comprises of the individual jobs like Cinematography, production, pre-production, distribution etc. Each sector is an important part of bringing a particular media project together as each job keeps the ball rolling and if someone starts to not work up to par then it could throw a spanner in the works and slow down or stop production completely. advertising is a role that expands to every media sector in order to gain attraction towards a production although each sector's advertising strategies can vary, some may advertise films through trailers on TV and online because these are where most people will see them, advertising also expands to the physical world too as posters are placed on bus stops and billboards are made to advertise. Public service media (PSM) is broadcasting fi...

Task 2- scriptwriting

1 - Issues.  "Issues" was written to be a fictional sob story short film about a homeless person trying to show his overwhelming kindness while also taking that was formatted correctly with size 12 and "courier" font, however the script was never completed therefore the film was never made. The overall language and dialogue used was intended to make the reader feel sympathetic towards the man. I have not used any brackets in my script therefore I have not included elements of a shooting script (The shooting script is written by the director) however I did use quotation marks which unnecessary in a master script. I have not used any slug lines in this script which is a major detail which is left out and makes it harder for the reader to picture the setting. Most of the script is actions over dialogue because I wanted the film to be visually based around the man and his emotions. 2 -Reflections. "Reflections" was written to be a psychological thriller a...

Script writing formats and conventions

Script writing formats and conventions. Formats and conventions refers to how a script writer is expected to lay out each script they write. A master script (A script without camera shots) is expected to start with the “courier” font on size 12 and start with slug lines. Slug lines are written in bold before any dialogue, their purpose is to set the scene for the reader as they usually describe whether a scene is set on the interior or exterior, the time of day and where the scene is set. Character names are written next in block capitals before any dialogue is written so that the reader is able to picture which character is saying what, the listing can also say whether the character is talking on or off-screen. Dialogue is the main aspect of a script and it can be listed as one person talking or multiple talking at once, the dialogue is always listed directly beneath the character(s) name, included after the dialogue can be parentheticals which are used to go in to more de...

Scriptwriting Task 3

THE WAYS OF TWO Synopsis: 3 teens named Jade, Ricky and Oliver are average teenagers with secrets and a thirst for adventure, however this will come to haunt then forever as they stumble upon bloody rocks in their usual place to hang around, they observe a person dragging what appears to be a body and after the person spots them, they have to fight and navigate their way to safety. My idea: The idea was inspired by 2 completely different sources, the idea for the plot was inspired from the movie "Scream" whereas the inspiration for the maniac came from the popular survival game "dead by daylight" and is based on the killer known as "the legion", the legion .is multiple people who take on the role of 1 killer. Selling point and target audience   The unique selling point of my film is the concept of a murderous, masked person who commits his acts in broad daylight and is caught accidentally by a group of friends, the target audience wi...

The future of film Task 1 Job roles

Image
The media industry is a highly competitive scene, therefore it will be difficult to secure a position somewhere in the hierarchy, the millions of people around the world who want to be involved in some way will have to bring something to the table that allows you to stand out among the rest. The jobs and roles in the media industry are not limited to practical and important roles, there are hundreds of jobs in the media industry and each job in the hierarchy is intertwined with each other.   Creative roles: At the top of the chain is the Producers and Directors which are the most important roles in any film production as they are responsible for how the finished product will look and how the project gets funded. They call the shots for everyone else and require a strong ability to communicate as they will be the most frequent to host meetings to discuss the project and anything important to do with it, the director always has...
